A fishy new life: reunion and reconcilation

The next day, Amy and Danny were eating breakfast when Karen came downstairs.

“Kids, I have some news.” Karen said. “Please stop eating and look at me.”

They did so.

“I’m leaving for a couple days.” Karen said. “I’m going on a...little trip.”

“where to?” Danny asked.

“That’s kind of private dear.” Karen replied. “Now your uncle Connor is coming here to stay with you guys till I get back. Now please be easy for him. I know you too are still grieving over your dad, but I promised him you two would be on your best behavior. So please be good.”

“Yes ma’am.” Amy said.

“Danny, you have to promise too young man.”

“Yeah mom.” Danny replied.

“Good. I’ll be back in a few days. You uncle will be here in about an hour. I love you both dearly, and I’ll see you soon.”

Karen kissed her children goodbye and then headed out.

“I wonder where she’s going.” Amy said.

“Probably to see Leighton!” Danny laughed mockingly.

“Shut up math retard!” Amy snapped.

Karen heard this and shook her head.

“Do all siblings fight?” she wondered. Yes, yes they do Karen.

Karen hopped in her car, and took her yacht hitched on the back. She drove to Miami beach. She hoisted the boat in the water and drove off. She followed her husband directions and soon saw the cave Richard had mentioned. The yacht was too big to fit through, so she hoisted it to a rock, got out her lifeboat and headed inside the cave. IT was pitch black, but she soon saw a light. She then saw they cave full of sparkly green crystals. They were amazing to behold! She was in awe!

“Nice cave  huh?” a voice behind her said.

Karen sprung around. IT was Richard in the water.

“Hiya babe!” Richard said smiling.

“R-Richard!” Karen cried holding her hands to her face.

“Glad you came dear.” he said grinning.

“We have a blood oath remember?” Karen asked.

Richard smiled back. “Ready to be transformed?”

Karen nodded nervously.

Okay. Hop into the water with me.

Karen took off her shoes and jumped in with Richard.

“Okay, take my hands.” he instructed.

Karen did exacly that.

Richard then began to change Karen. KArens leg began to morph together into a purple scaly fish tail, her dress morphed intoa  purple seashell bra and her her ponytail came undone with her hair grown a four whole feet!

“I don’t believe it!” Karen cried. “I-I’m really a mermaid!”

“You got your childhood wish.” Richard said. “Ready to go to the city?”

“You’d better believe it!” Karen cried.

“Come underwater then.” Richard said and they dove down under. KAren was amazed that she now could breathe underwater. She was plankton, fish and a sandy ocean floor!

“Where are we going Richard?” Karen asker her husband.

There.” Richard said pointing to a whirlpool.

“that is the portal between this universe and Aquania.”

“Aquania?” Karen asked puzzled.

“It’s an all water universe. There’s no surface or anything!” Richard explained.

“Are you sure that it’s safe dear?” Karen asked nervously.

“Trust me honey.” Richard said smiling at his wife. “Hold my hand as we go through.”

Karen frowned.

“I know I’ve let you down twice already, but this time I won’t!” he cried/

Karen nodded nervously and took Richard’s hand. They then swam towardss the whirlpool and it sucked them both in! KAren held onto tight to Richard as they were pulled through it. IT felt faster than any ride at Super Splashy funland!

They then burst through gasping and breathing.

Karen was coughing and panting.

“You okay Karen?” Richard asked her.

“Yes...” she said finally. “I’m fine.”

KAren looked up and was amazed! The water was perfectly clear and it was beautiful! A fish suddenly swam up to them.

“Hey Richard, who’s yor friend here?” the fsh asked.

Karen gasped. “A talking fish!”

“Fish can talk here in Aquania.” Richard said. “Gordon, this here is my lovely wife Karen.”

“Pleased to meet you.” Karen said to the fish.

“Howdy miss!” Gordon replied. “Richard, the king is waiting for you at the palace.”

“We’re on our way right now!” Richard said. “Come on dear.”
Karen swam after her husband and the two of them set off for the palace.

“What do you think of the ocean?” Richard asked.

“I think it’s amazing!” KAren cried. “I can’t wait to see the underwater kingdom!”

“Oh Metropolis is a wonderful place.” Richard said. “I remember when I first saw it, my jaw dropped. Yours will too.”

“I can’t wait...” Karen said smiling.

After about ten minutes, they arrived.

“Here we are honey! Metropolis!” Richard declared.

Karen’s jaw dropped, just asRichard had predicted it would.

“It’s amazing!”Karen cried to her husband. “It’s like something out of my old fairy tale book!”

“Remember dear, the people here don’t know about our human heritage...save for the king, the guards and his sister.”

“So keep quiet? Okay.” KAren said

“We’re meeting the kng tomorrow. Now let’s go see my new place!” Richard cried.

Karen followed her husband into his mansion.

“Nice place babe!” Karen said.

“Even nicer that you’re here.” Richard said.

They wentinto his undersea bed and hopped down.

“So, I heard you telling the kids that you were gonna lose the company.” Richard said. “What’s up?”

“Oh Richard.” Karen said. “Things have taken a turn for the worse since we...got separated. I’ve had so much responsiblity on my hands with you being gone...and just yesterday a lady from the SEC told me my license as a broker was suspended until they determined if I was guiltless or not...and nobody would help me out since they all thought I was involved too! Anyway, I took my anger out on the kids and...I almost hit Amy.”


“Dear, this is all my fault.” Richard said. “I let the person who talk me into hurting you as a kid talk me into making more bad decisions. I was jerk and this isall my fault.”

“But I forgive you dear.” Karen said smiling.

Thanks honey!” Richard cried. “You’re the best!”

And they hugged.

“So how’s being a guard down here been?” KAren asked.

“Great, you know that...”

There was suddenly a knock on the door.

“Come in!” Richard said.

In entered Crabella.

“Who’s this?” Crabella asked.

“This is my wife Karen.”  Richard said.

“Hello Karen!” Crabella cried. “MY Richard has one fine wife!”

“Thank you.” Karen said blushing.

“I heard from the king your wife was coming, and I planned a little welcoming committee for her! Where...wherea re your kids?”

“They...my wife came to...” Richard said.

“See if she wanted to forgive you?” Crabella asked. “I see. By the way, waht kingdom are you guys from?”

“Uh....Atlantis?” Karen said.

“Hmmm.. Sounds nice.” Crabella said. “Well, see ya.”

“Anyway, the king suggested you come down here to see about letting me go or not.” Richard said. “When I come back, I’m gonna be a better man. I’m gonna deal with that asshole Kevin and we’re gonna get the company back! I promise!”
“I know.” Karen said. “And I’m gonna find you a damn good lawyer!”

“Well babe...you wanna do it tonight?” Richard asked.

“KAren looked at her tail. “I...don’t really see how we can dear...we’re...”

“We still got em.” Richard said. “They’re just too small to be seen.”

Karen smiled. “Should I take my seashell bra off?”

“If you wanna dear!” Richard cried.

And they two had mermaid sex....

There was another knock ont the door later.

Karen quickly got her seashell bra on.

“Come in!” Richard called.

In entered Isabelle.

“Hi Richard.” Isabelle said looking somewhat sad.

“Hi Isabelle!” Richard cried. “This is my wife Karen!”

“Hello!” Karen said happily.

“Hello Karen.” Isabele said. “Well, I guess you might be leaving tomorrow...”

“We hope so.” Richard said happily. “We’re gonna pray and hope the king says yes.”

“Well...I’ll miss you.” Isabelle said.

“I will too Isabelle.” Richard said. “Thank you for being such a good friend to me!”

ISabelle nodded. “I just wanted to say....”

All of a sudden, a bunch of merpeople swam in.

“Guys?” Richard asked. “what are you doign here?”

“We heard you wife was coming here!” a mermaid cried.

“Ma’am, your husband is a hero!” a mermaid said. “He saved my sons from a shark!”

“He saved all our kids!” the principal said. “If you decide to return to him, then we want you to know your kids are welcomed at our school!”

“Thanks...” Karen said.

The next morning the lights came down through the window.

“Come on dear, it’s time to go!” Richard said.

“W-where to?” Karen asked rubbing her eyes.

“To see the king of course!” Richard cried. “To discuss whether I can go back with you or not.”

“Oh that’s right!” Karen cried.

“Crabella’s making us some breakfast right now. We’ll eat up and then head out.”

They swam down to see Crabella with two plates of seaweed and plankton.

“Dig in honey.” Richard said.

Karen tried it. It was delicious!

“Wow...I actually like this stuff!” Karen cried.

Our tastebuds and metabolisms are different now.” Richard explained.

After finishing breakfast, the two swam out of their palace and headed towards the palace.
“
“Gosh,te kids would love it here.”Karen said.

“They sure would....” Richard said.

They soon arrived at the gate. They swam into the palace and looked arund. Really nice place!

“OCtopian!” Richard called out.

“Richard!” Octopian cried. “You’re here! And you finally brought your wife!”

“Karen, this is Octopian. He’s one of my fellow guards for the king.” Richard explained.

“Please Mrs. Baxter!” Octopian said.

“Likewise.” Karen said politely.

The king is in his meeting room.” Octopian said. “He’s waiting for you.”

“What’s his name dear?” Karen asked “Neptune? Poseidon? Olympia?”

“No. Boris.” Richard said.

Karen frowned. That wasn’t an undersea king name she’d expected!

“I know what you’re thinking. Yes that doesn’t seem like an undersea king name. But that’s his name, so just live with it. Anyway, he’s a stern fellow. So come on in.”

There the king was sitting.

“Hello Richard.” the king said. “Glad you made it back okay.”

“Thank you sir.” Richard said. “This is Karen. My human wife.”

“Pleased Karen.” King Boris said.

Karen nodded.

“Take a seat, both of you.” King Boris said.

They did.

“Okay, now we...” Richard started.

“Richard, I’m just going to get to it.” King Boris said. “I’ve thought it over....and I’m afraid we’ve decided it would just be too risky to let you go back.”

“Sir, you said we could discuss it today!” Richard cried.

“I know. And I apologize.” the king said. “But our world has remained a secret for centuries...and letting you go back to being a human being and knowing all our secrets...well I fear that would just be too much of a hazard to the kingdom. You must stay here forever...and your wife must too!”

“You said you’d let her go if you wouldn’t let me!” Richard cried.

“Sometimes, decisions must be changed.” Boris said. “I apologize but you and your wife must remain here forever and always.”

Richard looked at his wife. She was silent.

“Honey, I’m so sorry!” Richard cried. “I didn’t...” Then she spoke.

“Your majesty.” Karen said. “If we must stay here forever, may we at least bring our children here?”

The king frowned.

“Could we please go back just for a  little while? We’ll bring our kids and have them live here too! Please your higness, if you’re keeping us here forever, we need our whole family!”

The king looked hesitant.

“Come on your highness...” Richard said eagerly. “I’d love to see my kids again....”

“I...I don’t think so...” King Boris said.

“Besides, your children might not WANT to come live with you....” ISabelle asked.

“Yes they will!” Karen said. “If it’ll keep them with us, they’ll want to come! Trust me!”

“How do you know that?” King Boris asked.

“Sir, we know our children better than anybody!” Richard cried.

“Very well.” the king said unhappily.

“Oh thank you sir!” Karen cried. “Richard and I will...”

“Not so fast.” King Boris said. “ONE of you may go back and get them.”

“It better be you dear.” Richard said. “They might freak out if they see me alive.”

“Okay.” Karen said.

“However, if I am to let you go temporarily you must agree to have a spell but on you Karen.”

Karen frowned. “What...kind of spell exactly?”

“If you do not return here within four days, you will die.” the king explained.

Karen looked at Richard.

“Please, I trust my wife.” Richard said. “She trusted me always...even when I betrayed her as a kid....before we fell in love...”

“Sorry, that’s the only way I’ll let you go get them.’” Boris said. “Do you agree or not?”

“Yes.” Karen said. “I’ll comply.”

“Okay.” the king said holding out his trident. He blasted Karen.

“There, now you may go.” the king said.

“I’ll show Karen back to the portal.” Richard said.

“That will not be necessary.” the king said. “I shall send her home myself.”

“Thanks your highness. What about my car and yacht though?” she asked.

They will be home as well.” King Boris replied. “ARe you ready?”

KAren nodded.

“See you in a little while dear!” Richard said smiling.

Karen waved and she was then saw a flash of greeen light. When it cleared, she saw she was lying in her bed back at the New York City mansion. Her legs were back and she was in her pajamas. She then bolted downstairs.
